Qualifications and functions of the compliance officer

Functions and responsibilities
The functions of the compliance officer (subject to the overall responsibility of management for compliance with regulatory requirements) shall include the following:
- Advise management on the policies and procedures necessary to comply with the regulatory requirements to which the market operator is subject.
- Ensure that the market operator notifies the Commission of all changes in licensing particulars.
- Monitor the effectiveness of internal controls, in mitigating risk, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and implementing the Board’s strategy and policies.
- Ensure that all relevant persons are aware of the regulatory requirements, including, employees and agents.
- Report on all material breaches
- Report to on any disciplinary action taken by the Commission against the market operator.
- Report results of any inspections or investigations conducted by the Commission; and report no less frequently than annually on the adequacy of the internal controls in mitigating risk, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and implementing the Board’s strategy and policies.
- Any other function that the Commission may prescribe from time to time.
- Develop and review company policies.
- Create and manage effective action plans in response to audit discoveries and compliance violations.
- Regularly audit company procedures, practices, and documents to identify possible weaknesses or risks.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in law, finance, business management, or a related field.
- Highly-analytical with strong attention to detail.
- GISI Certificate
- 3 – 5 years’ proven experience in a compliance officer role.
- Good knowledge of legal requirements and procedures.
- Brilliant oral and written communication skills.
